Worldcon 76, the 76th World Science Fiction Convention, is being held in San Jose, California, August 16 to 20, 2018. This document provides details about our Creators’ Alley area and how to apply for space.

Creators Alley will be located in the Exhibit Hall near the Art Show and have single and half tables available on a per-day basis. The whole hall is Non-smoking. All merchandise sold must have some relationship to science fiction or fantasy and should be created in some form by the vendor.

A jury will make the final decision about which vendors are allowed into the Alley and where they will be located. The jury's decisions are final and binding on all vendors. Therefore, although filing your application in a timely manner is important, it does not guarantee a place in the room.

Note: All vendors and their helpers must have Attending memberships. Memberships can be purchased on the convention’s website at www.worldcon76.org.

Restrictions

Vendors agree to use their assigned space to sell or exhibit material that is of a science fiction, fantasy, gaming, or other “fannish” nature. If you are unsure whether your material qualifies, please contact us.

Vendors agree that they are self-insured, that they will be ready to sell during their allotted time period.

We do not yet know whether the City of San Jose or the San Jose Convention Center have specific restrictions but Worldcon 76 restrictions include (but are not been limited to):

● weapons of any sort
● live flames
● anything generating a perceptible odor (incense, perfume, oils and essences),
● anything generating loud noises or causing crowds to gather in the aisles (audible audio or
video presentations)
● displays that block access by any other vendor to his or her space, the common backspace,
or the aisles

Some personal services are welcome – such as clothed massage that can take place in public, but we cannot accept permanent tattooing or unclothed massage. Our staff reserves the right to interpret these rules and their ruling is final.

Please contact us to describe your product if you think there may be a problem. We reserve the right to ask any vendor to remove any materials from sale in the Creators’ Alley if we have a reason to suspect that those materials are bootlegged, pirated, or grey-market in origin.

All vendors are required to have a valid current California Sales Tax License on file with us before opening for business on Thursday, August 16, 2018. Licenses are free to obtain and can be obtained on-line from https://www.boe.ca.gov/info/reg.htm.
